At our recent investor breakfast in Zurich, experts Elad Ben-Am (Picard Angst) and Dave Huizing (DSM-Firmenich) discussed how consumer behavior, regulation, and technological innovation are transforming the global food system—and why it matters for investors.

“Our food system is a major contributor to chronic diseases—and it’s changing fast,” said Elad Ben-Am, Portfolio Manager of the Picard Angst Food Revolution Fund. The fund targets high-growth areas such as clean label & food safety, sustainable food production, and healthy & functional nutrition.

Structural transformation in the food sector is no longer driven by consumers alone, but increasingly by institutional and regulatory momentum—creating long-term investment opportunities beyond traditional food companies.

Elad Ben-Am, Head of "The Food Revolution" at Picard Angst, explains how food innovation is evolving into a system-relevant investment theme.

GLP-1 Is Changing How People Eat

GLP-1 medications are reshaping how people eat—and how companies must respond. “For DSM-Firmenich, this is an opportunity to lead with healthier, purpose-driven solutions,” said Dave Huizing. The company is focusing on innovations in low-calorie and functional foods that align with emerging health trends.

Dave Huizing, SVP Investor Relations at DSM-Firmenich, shares his perspective on current trends in the food industry.

Policy Shift in the US: "Make America Healthy Again"

The new US administration’s "Make America Healthy Again" initiative marks the beginning of a fundamental shift in food regulatio– with far-reaching consequences for the entire industry. Investors will need to understand not only consumer preferences but also policy frameworks that define what qualifies as healthy and sustainable nutrition.
