Investor Meeting Battery Storage
Energy Storage as an Investment Opportunity

Networking among investors during the flying lunch at our event in Emmen.
Battery storage is a key driver of the energy transition. At our investor event, experts discussed current market opportunities, management approaches, and investment models – with insights into new projects and regulatory trends.
The increasing integration of photovoltaic and wind power is putting pressure on power grids. Damian Zurmühle from CKW demonstrated how large-scale battery storage systems contribute to grid stability by combining system-critical services with market-based returns.
"The energy future is volatile. Battery storage not only stabilizes the grid but also unlocks new business models."
Damian Zurmühle, CKW
In Switzerland, the number of active large-scale storage systems has risen from three in 2018 to 22 today, with further growth expected. Practice shows that “revenue stacking” — utilizing multiple revenue streams per storage unit — is becoming the standard, including peak shaving, arbitrage, and frequency regulation.
Returns Through Smart Management
Entrix emphasizes the role of intelligent management systems for economically successful storage projects. Using AI-driven algorithms to optimize deployment across multiple markets, storage cycles can be managed efficiently. This reduces aging, extends system lifespan, and balances revenue fluctuations.
"The return of a battery storage system is not generated by the hardware. It is generated by the management."
Lars Löhle, Entrix
Case studies with partners like Aquila Capital and Encavis illustrate the effectiveness of this approach. Virtual schedules and precise forecasting turn battery storage into dynamic investment assets suitable for institutional investors.
Direct Investments – A Growing Market
How can investors participate early in the growth of the storage market? Swiss KMU Partners presented the structure of the MW Storage Fund, a diversified investment solution with project pipelines in Switzerland and Germany.
By combining fixed and flexible sources of income, the fund aims to achieve a balanced risk-return ratio. This creates targeted access for institutional investors to a growing segment of energy infrastructure.
